Attacking

When a character wishes to attack a target, roll Combat + Melee for melee attacks or Combat + Ranged skill roll for ranged attacks. If a character has The Drop on her target, she may instead use Espionage + Assassination. Count the number of Successes against a threshold of 1. If a character meets the threshold she successfully hits and deals damage equal to her weapon damage. Every Raise deals an additional point of damage. [In a cinematic game, a player may spend Raises to perform stunts instead of dealing additional damage.] The target then makes a Toughness roll to reduce the damage (Armor provides automatic successes to Toughness rolls against combat damage.) Every success reduces the damage by one. Any damage a character takes after this roll is subtracted from his or her Health Points (see Damage.)
